What Is CuAl10Fe2?
CuAl10Fe2 is a high-strength copper-aluminium casting bronze containing iron. Under EN 1982, the casting grade is CuAl10Fe2-C / CC331G and the related ingot grade is CuAl10Fe2-B / CB331G. Çorum Bronz produces and supplies the alloy under the trade name KUPRAL® 2.
Aluminium contributes to strength, hardness and corrosion behaviour, while iron promotes grain refinement, toughness and wear performance. These properties support applications involving combined mechanical load, friction and corrosive environments.
Chemical Composition
Under EN 1982, Cu is 83.0-89.5%, Al 8.5-10.5% and Fe 1.5-3.5%. Maximum limits are Ni 1.5%, Mn 1.0%, Zn 0.50%, Sn and Si 0.20%, Pb 0.10% and Mg 0.05%. For castings intended for welding, the maximum Pb content is 0.03%.
Mechanical Properties by Casting Process
EN 1982 minimums are Rm 500 MPa, Rp0.2 180 MPa, A 18% and 100 HBW for sand casting; 600 MPa, 250 MPa, 20% and 130 HBW for permanent mould casting; 550 MPa, 200 MPa, 18% and 130 HBW for centrifugal casting; and 550 MPa, 200 MPa, 15% and 130 HBW for continuous casting. Finished-component properties are assessed together with process, section size, sampling position and production conditions.
Typical Physical Properties
Typical references include density around 7.5 g/cm³, modulus of elasticity around 110 GPa, specific heat around 0.42 J/(g·K), thermal conductivity around 55 W/(m·K), thermal expansion around 16-17 × 10⁻⁶/K and electrical conductivity around 4-6 MS/m. The melting range is approximately 1040-1050 °C.
Technical Characteristics and Material Selection
CuAl10Fe2 provides high static and dynamic strength, good ductility, wear performance and corrosion resistance in a range of industrial environments. Plain-bearing and bushing design considers lubrication, shaft hardness, surface finish, running clearance, pressure and sliding speed together.
The alloy can serve in freshwater, saltwater and selected marine applications under suitable flow, temperature and galvanic-contact conditions. Project requirements guide material selection for critical seawater, high-flow and cavitation service. Technical sources indicate low temperature dependence over approximately -200 °C to +200 °C; design temperature is established with load, duration and environment.
Applications
Typical applications include heavy-duty bronze bushings, plain bearings, bearing liners, gears, worm wheels, pump bodies and impellers, valve bodies and trim, valve guides and seats, rolling-mill guides, wear plates, hydrant components and general machine parts.
Production Technology and Product Forms
KUPRAL® 2 may be produced by sand, permanent mould, centrifugal and continuous casting. Component geometry, section, quantity, mechanical targets, pressure-tightness requirements and the purchase specification guide process selection.
Supply forms include hollow bronze products, round bars, flats, plates, bushing blanks, rings and project-specific cast components manufactured to drawing.
Production, Sales and Supply from Çorum Bronz
Çorum Bronz produces CuAl10Fe2-C / CC331G castings according to project requirements and supplies semi-finished products in standard or available dimensions through its Metal Market. Cut lengths, hollow products, round bars, flats, plates and custom-sized castings are evaluated according to the technical requirement.
Standards and Comparable Grades
The principal European casting designation is CuAl10Fe2-C / CC331G, with CuAl10Fe2-B / CB331G as the related ingot grade. Former DIN designations are G-CuAl10Fe / 2.0940.01, GK-CuAl10Fe / 2.0940.02 and GZ-CuAl10Fe / 2.0940.03. UNS C95200 is the US comparison and BS 1400 AB1 the former British comparison.
ASTM B148 covers sand castings, ASTM B271/B271M centrifugal castings and ASTM B505/B505M continuous-cast copper-alloy products. ISO 1338:1977 / CuAl10Fe3 is a historical withdrawn comparison. JIS CAC701/CAC701C and AS 1565 C95210 are additional comparable grades subject to specification review.
Engineering and Quality Note
Final product properties are verified through the selected standard, casting process, component section, dimensions, tolerances, production lot, chemical analysis and mechanical test results. Critical pressure, seawater, welded-fabrication and elevated-temperature applications are evaluated with the project specification and quality documentation.
