What Is CuSn10?
CuSn10 is a copper-tin cast bronze. Offered under the KUPTİN® 10 trade name, this grade is used in engineering applications involving heavy loads, low sliding speeds, wear and corrosion.
Chemical Composition
For EN 1982 CuSn10-C / CC480K, Cu + Ni is 88.0-90.0%, Sn is 9.0-11.0%, Ni is max. 2.0%, Pb is max. 1.0% and Zn is max. 0.5%. Further limits are max. 0.2% for P and Fe, 0.1% for Mn, 0.2% for Sb, 0.05% for S, 0.02% for Si and 0.01% for Al. The principal EN value is combined Cu + Ni, not Cu alone.
Typical Physical Properties
Typical values are approximately 8.7 g/cm³ density, 0.376 J/(g·K) specific heat capacity, 18.5 × 10⁻⁶/K thermal expansion, 59 W/(m·K) thermal conductivity and 7 MS/m electrical conductivity.
Properties and Applications
CuSn10 combines high wear resistance, good load-carrying capacity and corrosion resistance. Applications include bronze bushings, plain bearings, gears, worm wheels, pump components, valve bodies, piston rings and fittings exposed to seawater.
Production and Supply Forms
KUPTİN® 10 can be produced by centrifugal casting, continuous casting and custom casting. Supply forms include round bar, flat bar or plate, tube or hollow section, and project-specific castings.
Technical Note
Mechanical values are provided in section 02, Mechanical Properties; standards and grade comparisons are provided in section 05, Standards and Comparable Grades. Final product properties must be verified against the order specification, casting method, section size and quality-control results.
