View Detailed Technical Description
What Is CuZn34Mn3Al2Fe1?
CuZn34Mn3Al2Fe1 is a high-strength copper-zinc manganese bronze alloyed with manganese, aluminium and iron. Under EN 1982 the related ingot is CuZn34Mn3Al2Fe1-B / CB764S, while the casting grade is CuZn34Mn3Al2Fe1-C / CC764S. Çorum Bronz produces and supplies the alloy under the trade name KUZRAL® 1.
Ingot and Casting Distinction
CB764S is an ingot grade intended for remelting in casting production. CC764S identifies the finished or semi-finished casting grade. Mechanical properties apply to cast products; ingot and casting composition limits should not be treated as identical.
Chemical Composition
For CuZn34Mn3Al2Fe1-C / CC764S castings, Cu including Ni is 55.0-66.0%, Al 1.0-3.0%, Fe 0.5-2.5% and Mn 1.0-4.0%, with Zn as the remainder. Ni is limited to 3.0%, Sn and Pb to 0.30%, Si to 0.10%, Sb to 0.05% and P to 0.03%. In CB764S ingots, Cu including Ni is 55.0-65.0%, Al 1.5-3.0%, Fe 0.8-2.0% and Mn 1.0-3.5%.
Mechanical Properties
EN 1982 minimums are: sand casting (GS) Rm 600 MPa, Rp0.2 250 MPa, A 15% and 140 HBW; permanent mould casting (GM) 600 MPa, 260 MPa, 10% and 140 HBW; centrifugal casting (GZ) 620 MPa, 260 MPa, 14% and 150 HBW. For continuous casting, 620 MPa, 260 MPa, 14% and 150 HBW are supplier-datasheet references. Section, specimen location and casting structure can affect final results.
Typical Physical Properties
Typical references include a density of approximately 7.8 g/cm³, specific heat of 0.373 J/(g·K), thermal expansion of 20 × 10⁻⁶/K, thermal conductivity of 55-59 W/(m·K) and electrical conductivity of 7-8 MS/m. These are manufacturer reference values, not EN 1982 acceptance criteria.
Çorum Bronz Technical Assessment
KUZRAL® 1 combines high strength, hardness, wear resistance and suitable corrosion behaviour in seawater and atmospheric conditions. It is suitable for systems with high static loads, low operating speeds, adequate lubrication and hard mating surfaces. The alloy is relatively difficult to machine, so tooling, cutting parameters and workholding should be selected accordingly.
Applications
Typical applications include heavy-duty bronze bushings, low-speed plain bearings, rolling-mill guides, press and heavy-machine slides, crane and lifting-equipment bearings, mining and crushing-equipment parts, wear plates, gear and worm components, pump and valve parts, and suitable engineering components exposed to seawater.
Production Technology and Supply Forms
KUZRAL® 1 may be produced by sand, permanent mould and centrifugal casting and, under suitable supplier conditions, continuous casting. Supply forms include bronze tubes and hollow bars, round bars, flats, plates, bushing blanks and drawing-based special castings.
Production, Sales and Supply by Çorum Bronz
Çorum Bronz manufactures standard and project-specific products in CuZn34Mn3Al2Fe1-C / CC764S. Available sizes, cut-to-length pieces, hollow products, round bars, flats and plates can be supplied through the Metal Market, while special production considers drawings, tolerances, casting process and quality documentation.
Standards and Comparable Grades
The main European casting designation is CuZn34Mn3Al2Fe1-C / CC764S, with CuZn34Mn3Al2Fe1-B / CB764S as the related ingot. Former DIN designations include G-CuZn34Al2 / 2.0596.01, GK-CuZn34Al2 / 2.0596.02, GZ-CuZn34Al2 / 2.0596.03 and GB-CuZn34Al2 / 2.0606 for ingots. UNS C86200 / SAE 430A and UNS C86550 appear as close US comparisons in different sources, but are not exact equivalents.
Engineering Note
Material selection should consider static and dynamic loads, speed, lubrication, mating-surface hardness, temperature, corrosion environment, section and manufacturing process. Final suitability should be verified through the purchase specification, product analysis certificate, mechanical tests and dimensional inspection.
